Update 2017:
Balou is an 11-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, who has been looking for a loving home. He is good on the trail and does lower level equitation and jumper work. He needs a refresher course on ground training, but will settle in nicely with a loving and committed owner. He trailers and ties well, and is current on vaccination, deworming, dentistry, and foot care!
Balou is happy and healthy and ready for a new home! His beautiful gaits were captured on this recent video as he frolicked in pasture and even showed off a seamless and smooth flying lead change! He is a gorgeous horse and is ready to find a loving family. He has sweet elements to his personality and is quite athletic. Balou video (in YouTube)

Congratulations to Linda on your adoption of Balou!
Update - July 2011
Recently, a horse show in Healdsburg had a very special competitor there—CHANGE's Balou and his adopter Linda Aldrich of the Pony Express Equine Assisted Skills for Youth in east Santa Rosa. Balou is a lesson horse in Linda's wonderful program. Linda says that Balou is a fabulous horse and shows a lot of talent in dressage. He is also doing work over fences. This was his first show over fences. Balou stood calmly at a very busy show like he'd done this all his life. He and Linda impressed the judge in their green hunter classes and came home with ribbons. Balou, Linda and CHANGE were publicly recognized by the announcer at the conclusion of their round. Look carefully at one of the photos. Just coincidentally, the CHANGE banner displayed at the show is right behind Balou! (See photos below.)
