Buck

UPDATED NOVEMBER 24, 2025

Buck came to the CHANGE Program back in 2022, a beat up senior stallion who had an injury requiring surgery. He spent several months in the hospital and rehab, and was also gelded. Throughout all of this, Buck was kind and gentle.

A senior lady fell in love with Buck and adopted him. He has led a charmed life with her for the last three years. Sadly, health issues forced her to return Buck to CHANGE.

Buck is sweet, mellow and easy to handle. He is a dream for the farrier and vet, loves to be groomed, and walks politely alongside you. Buck is in his early 20’s, is approximately 15.2 hands and his only limitation is that he can't be turned out with mares, as he still remembers his stallion days. He is up to date on all maintenance veterinary care. We are placing Buck as a non-riding companion horse. Buck has no special needs and keeps weight on nicely with just hay. He does not take any medication.

Buck loves people and will gallop in from the far reaches of his pasture to meet anyone who’s come to see him, which is what he did when we recently visited to take pictures and he had JUST rolled in the mud!!! Even covered in mud, we think he’s quite beautiful, and he absolutely loves being groomed and having his long luxurious mane and tail combed.

If you are interested in Buck, please fill out the Adoption Application first, and a CHANGE volunteer will contact you as soon as possible.
