We are so pleased that Lucy has found a loving home as of July, 2020!
Once upon a time, 9 years ago, a baby donkey was born to a CHANGE foster donkey mama. We named her Lucy. She was adopted as a weanling, along with her mom. Nine years later, through no fault of her own, Lucy has been returned to the CHANGE Program.
And oh, what a cool donkey she is! Lucy drives! As in, pulls a cute little cart! Lucy is currently in CHANGE foster care and being cart-driven regularly by a professional mule and donkey trainer, who feels Lucy has strong potential for pleasure or competitive driving. Lucy is also an unusual and desirable color.
Lucy wants a job. She's not a "pasture puff" type. Her ideal home has solid horse and longears experience and can set good boundaries when she has her sassy moments. She is great to lead, load, tie, bathe, handle and doctor. Lucy does have difficult heat cycles, which we are in the process of evaluating medically. She may not be a good match with very small animals such as goats or sheep, and she may do best living in a solo situation (we are still evaluating this). She is otherwise a healthy, happy girl.
Accepting applications now for a late summer adoption (giving us time to complete her medical and reproductive evaluation). Please SHARE and help us find Lucy her perfect match!
$150 to approved lifetime home.
